The 5th Annual General Meeting of the Estate Workers Housing Cooperative Federation marked an important milestone in the Federation’s ongoing commitment to empowering plantation communities through cooperation, participation, and collective action. The gathering reflected a shared vision of improving the lives and livelihoods of estate workers and their families.
A key highlight of the AGM was the endorsement of a Cooperative Society–Led Plantation Development Programme, which recognizes cooperative societies as the driving force behind sustainable community development. Members emphasized the importance of strengthening grassroots participation and ensuring that development initiatives directly benefit plantation communities.
The Federation further resolved to commence the programme in a phased manner from July 2026 through selected estate-level pilot activities. With unanimous support from the membership, the Estate Workers Housing Cooperative Federation reaffirmed its commitment to building stronger cooperative institutions and creating a future of shared prosperity for all plantation communities.
